Spraying gutters

We Repair Damaged Masonry

We repair damaged masonry, remove and install dampers, animal removal, and cleaning services for rain gutters in California. Masonry structures do not last forever; they can become cracked due to thermal, moisture expansion, or other natural forces.

Parts of the fireplace, such as dampers, are particularly vulnerable to deterioration. When it’s too late for preventive measures to be effective, more major repairs are necessary.
We offer masonry, dampers, animal removal, and rain gutter services in Orange County and part of Los Angeles County.

Chimney Rebuilding

Chimneys are often ignored for too long and the water damage becomes too severe to repair. When this occurs, the only option is to rebuild the damaged portion of the chimney, because not only will water damage to masonry and dampers occur, but also cracks in the brickwork allow animals to enter the chimney.
In addition, water damage usually extends down to the roof, so when rebuilding the top of a chimney it’s best to take it down below the roof line and rebuild it from there. Also, if the damper is not working as it should be, water and moisture can get into the firebox and damage it.
Rain gutters collect and deviate water away from your home. If a rain gutter gets clogged, it can lead to stagnant water that allows animals, such as mosquitoes, to breed. In addition, if rain gutters overflow, exterior and interior walls will be exposed to water causing mold or cracks in the foundation.

Air Duct

Air duct cleaning can help improve your indoor air quality.

It has been said that Orange and LA Counties are part of the Southern California’s never-ending allergy season. A great way to minimize symptoms is to perform an air duct cleaning. It can help improve your indoor air quality.
The changing of the seasons in Orange and LA counties can be a beautiful time of the year, but it is also frustrating for people with allergies. Windy conditions cause greater pollen and mold distribution, both outdoors and indoors, leading to an increase in allergy symptoms. Most people know that air ducts get dirty overtime and should occasionally be cleaned to improve indoor air quality. The need for air duct cleaning depends on a variety of factors, including pets, local weather conditions, smoking, recent renovations and home cleanliness. Most of the dust in our home contains mold, dust mites, mildew, pollen and animal dander. Some of these pollutants may cause allergic reactions or other symptoms in people such as breathing problems like asthma. Air conditioning and ventilation systems in homes and businesses are identified as breeding grounds for contaminants like molds, fungus, and bacteria.

Dryer Vent Cleaning

Reasons for inspection & cleaning

  • Safety is the number one reason to have your dryer vent cleaned.
  • When the dryer is used, over time, lint will collect and adhere to the inside of the dryer vent walls.
  • The larger the buildup, the larger the risk of having a dryer vent fire.
  • Use of a dryer with a dirty vent can cause the dryer to run longer to dry the same amount of clothes because the hot air being expelled cannot freely exit the vent. Longer drying time takes more electricity and puts added stress on the appliance.
  • Clothes dryers are one of the leading causes of house fires each year. When homeowners forget to maintain their dryer’s ventilation system, it gets clogged with lint that can easily catch fire with the right amount of heat.
  • When one of our qualified technicians cleans your dryer vents, the hose and ducts are also inspected to make sure there are no concerns or need for repairs. We also check to see if you have the proper style hose and if it is installed correctly.
  • It is vital that you have your dryer vents cleaned and inspected by a professional at least once a year.

Chimney Maintenance & problems

A characteristic problem of chimneys is that they develop deposits of creosote on the walls of the structure when used with wood as a fuel. Deposits of this substance can interfere with the airflow, and more importantly, they are flammable and can cause dangerous chimney fires if the deposits ignite in the chimney. Thus, it is recommended  that chimneys be inspected annually and cleaned on a regular basis to prevent these problems.

Creosote  is naturally produced in some quantities from the burning of wood and coal in blast furnaces and fireplaces; it’s commonly found inside chimney flues when the wood or coal burns incompletely, producing soot and tarry smoke. Creosote has a very strong, acrid odor, generally much worse in wet weather or in the summertime when the chimney is less effective in drawing the odor up the chimney.

How it looks after cleaning

Before

After

A chimney fire is the combustion of residue deposits referred to as creosote on the inner surfaces of chimney tiles, flue liners, stove pipes, etc. The process begins with the incomplete combustion (burning) of fuel in the attached appliance, usually a wood or coal stove. The unburned volatiles are heated to the vapor state but not consumed due to a lack of adequate heat & oxygen within the appliance. These volatile distillates escape into the chimney, where they contact cooler surfaces & condense into tar-like deposits. Successive layers accumulate until either the chimney plugs completely, or the chimney reaches a temperature & oxygen level at which the deposit will ignite.

Due to the concentrated level of volatile material now present, these fires tend to burn very hot. The high temperatures stress the mechanical strength of the chimney causing distortion of metal structures, & failure of ceramic structures.

Both the Chimney Safety Institute of America and the National Fire Protection Association recommend yearly chimney inspections to help prevent fire and carbon monoxide poisonings.

Spark Arrestors

Chimney caps and spark arrestors function to keep sparks from escaping and igniting nearby trees, leaves, and other flammables, or from landing on the roof.

In California, leaves are very high fire hazard and even a tiny spark can start a fire, so If your home is located within a wooded area, chimney caps and spark arrestors are strongly recommended.
Chimney caps, & spark arrestors are available in stainless steel, copper & galvanized steel.
We install single and multi-flue chimney caps.
